  • I really loved this second installment of this modern-Ruritanian type story. With the crown in peril and a mysterious man after the royal family, who will survive? I loved these characters and I loved the strong Christian message.Be sure to read this series in order!

  • christianbookshelfreviewsI read Princess in Peril (book one in the "Reclaiming the Crown" series) back in February of this year and loved that book! Protecting the Princess was just as good, if not better! In Protecting the Princess we get to see Anastasia's story first hand - including hearing about some things Princess Isabelle was doing. I found that very interesting because we got to see the things Isabelle did first hand in Princess in Peril.I personally loved getting to read Anastasia's sto [...]

  • This is just what I needed. A book that is more fluffy then some, but also has men and women of strong character and faith. I loved this story even more then I did Defending the Duchess And I can't wait to read another book set in the country of Lydia.

  • I absolutely loved this book! Just finished it this morning. What a wonderful story about modern royalty and the perils of trying to keep the throne. This is the second in the ReClaiming the Throne series by Rachelle McCalla. Now I want to read the entire series!!! Great Job, Rachelle!!!

  • I really enjoyed this book, couldn't put it down, finished in a day. It had conspiracy, romance, travel, and true friendship. All the things that make s good story.

  • Normally I love romances where the couple has know each other most of their lives, but the conflict in this was didn't work for me. Kirk was continually obeying his father to protect Princess Stasi from himself, but the fact that this particular duty was never really resolved when the two united made the whole thing feel a bit hollow.

  • I loved the second book too!! I love reading about strong Godly men, with good morals. The love stories in this series are so so sweet. I can't get enough. I love how the book started out at the about the same point the first book started, but from a different characters point of view. About 3/4 of the way through, the stories intersected, and picked up where the first book left off. Such a cool way to write a series. Each book recapping the same time period, but each book also stretching furthe [...]

  • Protecting the Princess by Rachelle McCallaBook 2 in the Reclaiming The Crown SeriesPrincess Anastasia use to adore her brother's best friend, Kirk Covington. Six years ago that all changed when Thadeus disappeared and Kirk went to trial for his murder. Being no body was ever found or other proof, the charges were dropped. But not the accusations of those around him, including Stasi. Now her family is in trouble and the only ally she has is Kirk. She must learn to trust him completely as it seem [...]

  • I was very excited to read this, after reading Isabelle's story a month ago. So, I had preordered it on and got it on my Kindle today! Hurray! It was great hearing Stasi's side of the story and a little more. It's very interesting how she weaves backstory in, so we know more about the people than just what is happening now. I love that slowly, but surely we're figuring out what happened and is going on. I'm glad that it didn't stop at the same point as the first one, and I have a feeling that i [...]

  • I am so glad this series was out before I discovered it, or else I would go mad with waiting! I am so intrigued by the plot, I love how each book gets one step closer to figuring it all out. Definitely wise to read in order, I would have been a bit lost otherwise! I adored the characters in this book, oh so cute! Can't wait to go download the next one!

  • It's impossible not to love this book. Thank you to the author for a copy of it.I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Although I have no read the first in the series, I was able to follow the whole story.Stasi is a strong, likable character. It's a sweet story that I will reread time and time again.

  • This was an excellent story. I love that it had romance and action and it was clean enough that my daughter could read it. I definitely plan on reading other books by this author.

  • This is an action packed love story, really good. It's the second one in a new series from The Love inspired suspense gene called Reclaiming the Crown. Can't wait for the next one.

  • A pretty intense mystery for such a little book. A few unbelievable moments, but a nice, clean book, sweet romance, and a lot of intrigue.

  • Another winnerAn exciting read. While this is part of a series it can be read by itself too. A very fast fast paced book that sucks you in and doesn't let you go until the end.

  • *loved every bit of it*My CommentsPrincess Stasi is in her room rushing to be ready before the motorcade takes off for the evening. Just as she’s ready to leave, she attempts to open her bedroom door to discover it’s locked! There have been other strange things she has noticed in her bedroom lately, but why would someone lock her in her bedroom? Someone hears the princess’s cries and sends Kirk to escort her since she missed her ride, but when they catch up to the motorcade several explosi [...]

  • Well, it got all the coordinates down for a realistic action packed book with a female protagonist who is weak but had matured on the end and a guy who had been attracted to her for a long time. The wild goose chases and trust issues are well designed and would actually make one look around for who might not be trustworthy to the characters (it got me suspicious on almost everyone other than the protagonists). Character wise, I liked how they were both awkward and tried to reach out to one anoth [...]

  • Princess Anastasia (Stasi) is supposed to be on her way to a state dinner when the royal motorcade leaves without her; able to catch up with them as her brother's possible murderer drives her (an interesting subplot) they watch as the motorcade goes up in flames. On the run for her life she needs to find out who is behind the attacks and why. I adored this story and the way all the characters were weaved together. It wasn't too suspenseful to make me skip any parts (I've been know to be a scared [...]

  • The plot was exciting, and I enjoyed this book immensely. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that a couple of things that happened seemed a little bit unbelievable if the main characters were as "wanted" as the story indicates, even taking into account the help of loyal insiders. I have not read the other books in this series, but I certainly will if I get a chance. I loved the characters of Anastasia and Kirk, and I want to find out what happens next.

  • The story line was ok but it contained too many unbelievable elements to be really enjoyable. To illustrate, after initially helping Staci to escape, Kirk is on Lidya's most wanted list yet his boat is not watched, his parents who live in the palace grounds are not watched, he manages to climb over the palace wall to visit his parents! Really? Palace security is that lax? Even at the end of the story he still has access by thumb print to palace equipment! I don't think so.

  • This book started so much like the first book. Different details but the same plot. I tried to give up on it a couple times but held on after seeing so many positive reviews. As another reviewer noted, about 3/4 of the way through, this book ties in to book 1. That's when it got really good and hard to put down. But was that really worth all the pressing on? I think this book on its own would be better. But with book one, it is too similar. I'm not going to bother with book 3.

  • I received this book for free through First Reads. I enjoyed this story very much. Would really like to find the first book in this series. The characters seem very real and I very much enjoyed the story line. When I saw the cover of the book, I figured it was another historical romance, but actually it's a contemporary romance. It is an inspirational book, but it's not overdone and you feel a real connection between the characters and their relationship with God.

  • Christian romance novel. I don't need to elaborate any more than that, but I will. I LOVE smut. I'm totally down with sexy times. This chaste bullshit that just doesn't exist in real life is rampant in this god awful book. Not to mention the story isn't believable, the characters are inconsistent (and super annoying), and the writing is about as basic as it gets. I honestly can't figure out how this got onto my to-read list, as this book sums up everything I hate to read.

  • Actually gave this book a 3.5 rating. The story was good but not as good as the first book in the series.Kirk Covington was a fun character to read. He was strong when he needed to be and gentle when the situation called for it. Princess Anastasia had a tendency to whine a lot but when she had to be strong she pulled herself together and did what was needed.Hope the two brothers' stories are better than this one.
