  • Possibly the worst book I have ever read. To many exclamations, forced and over the top. The characters are more impressed and surprised by the magical world than the reader ever is. Characters come to rash conclusions with no hard evidence and the reader is simply supposed to swallow the plot (or lack thereof). Too many magical creatures and not enough story. The nap inside the magic placenta was the final straw.

  • 3.5Saying that Oska is the french Harry Potter, is bad for him and for her. Their backgrounds are completely different and they deserve to be distinguished like that. For now, and until I have the opportunity to do a better review on my bog, I want to say that I liked this book. It is more juvenile than other fantasy books I´ve read lately, but that´s sweet, has a lot of adventures and we can join a group of friends discovering how the world is bigger than they thought.

Evet, bayağı benziyor Harry Potter’a.

  • Hi! I bought this book to read, 'cause there was an action where I could buy this book with 55% discount. I decided t buy, because sometimes I love to read stories for children. Last books I've read were Ender's game, and The Giver, that are spectacular and very philosophical. After having read these book I was fascinated by simplicity of the main plot of book OKSA POLLOCK: The Last Hope. The main character is selfish. Enemies are not serious. Magical powers are not so epic. After reading series [...]

  • While this started out feeling very much like another tired try at being the new Harry Potter, I actually grew to like it more and more as the story developed. Not amazing, but a fun read for kids 10/12+. I could have done without all the cutesy creatures and odd-sounding words for things, but I guess that's okay considering the target audience. Will give the second one a try as well.

  • Interesting beginning of the "Oksa Pollock Series" but needs more workPlot:Same old, same old. Oksa is an ordinary teenager who recently moved from Paris to London with her parents Pavel and Marie and her grandmother Dragomira. She was lucky because her best friend Gustave Bellanger also moved to London with his parents and now she doesn't have to feel alone and left out in a new city. Friends are ready to face the challenges before them, new school (where everyone mysteriously speaks French) an [...]

  • This is not a series where you will be bored, because there is always something happening. But maybe that is not the best thing for every book. I am sure that for someone younger this would be the perfect series, but not for me. This is aimed mostly at pre-teens, and I think my opinion would have been different if I had read the whole series years agoidescentbooksblog.wordpress

  • I don't know if I expected too much, after reading a review that likened Oska Pollock to Harry Potter, or a lot was lost during translation but I was not impressed in the least. The book had a good backstory to work on: a young, clueless Oska Pollock found herself in the center of a group of magical people who had to escape from their magical world because of internal strife but now had to go back. Good, really. Sadly, the plot and character development were very bad.Sure, there were quite a lot [...]
