  • Scandal is the last thing senatorial candidate Jack Simon needs. But when Donovan James is around that seems to be all there is. Donovan is the only woman that has ever gotten close to Jack but she walked away 5 years ago and he has no plans to let her back in now. This latest installment in the Simon Family series is incredible! It deals with past hurts and secrets and incredible betrayals. This is one I highly recommend to everyone.

  • I love this family. I am glad that I know Jack's story and it answered all of my questions. Jack has been mad at Donovan since she left him with a letter but you can tell he still has feelings for her. Thankfully they get thrown together and that leads to a really good story. :-)Read it up, people! You won't be disappointed!

  • This book was such a disappointment. Jack was such an asshole and said such horrible things to Donovan for the majority of the book that even in the end he didn't redeem himself enough for me.Donovan was such a sweet character. She was the only reason I actually finished this book.

  • Favorite Quote: “She’s the first thing I think about when I wake up. The last thing on my mind before I sleep.”Jack Simon and Donovan James were a couple in love until they day they had a nasty argument and Donovan disappeared, leaving Jack with only a note and a broken heart. Though Jack tried to get to the bottom of Donovan’s defection, she froze him out and Jack had no other option but to go on with his life.Five years later, Jack is shocked to see Donovan at his political fundraiser. [...]

  • If there’s one thing I can’t get enough of in romance books (plot-wise), it is the forbidden element of a politician and a character with a shady past. This book featured a Democrat senator well on his way to a presidential nomination and a country singer who may or may not be involved in a scandal that will prove disastrous for Jack Simon. And because she loves him dearly, she’ll do anything to prevent that from coming outARED PASTJack Simon and Donovan James has had a tumultuous, albeit, [...]

  • Loved Jack and Donovan together. It was pretty emotional and I did cry once or twice but it had some humorous moments. Even though Jack was pretty much an ass most of the time. He was endearing and totally lovable. Can't read about more of the Simon boys.

  • I loved this book better than the first installment, "Tucker". I loved Donovan's character. She is the type of woman who puts on a brave face but on the inside is severely hurt due to past incidences. Jack's character is the typical 'alpha' male character where he thinks he has got everything right, the know-it-all kind. But, when it comes to Donovan he can't seem to keep his eyes off her, neither his hands (though his hands doesn't get involved any sooner). There's sexual tension brewing betwee [...]

He’s the eldest of the Simon brothers and the one everyone believes is destined for the White House.Jack is an easy hero to fall for. He’s definitely got the brooding thing down—and I do adore a brooding hero. But when readers are first introduced to him at the beginning of the book, his ill-temper h [...]

  • This is another awesome book by Julianna Stone. Every book I read by her makes me fall in love with her writing even more. This is the 2nd book of this series. It can be read as a stand alone, but I feel should be read in order, it helps you understand the other characters. This is the story of Jack. He is running for Senator. He is at his fundraiser and sees his ex across the room and is very upset that she is there. They broke up on bad terms, but he still cares for her. They are like oil & [...]

  • I give Jack 4 stars.I did not read book one in this series but it's not necessary in order to follow book 2.Jack is on the political track. The golden boy of the family who's destined for great things.Donovan's job is singing to crowded stadiums. She grew up poor in a trailer park until her mother realized her talent for singing and got her started at county fairs.Donovan is Jack's ex. Five years ago she left him via a note.Seeing her again is not what he expected, she's the last person he wants [...]

  • 2.5 rounded up to 3 because I really like her writing style, it's the story line that loses points for me. A simple second chance love story, which I enjoyed all the way to the end which finished WAY too conveniently and quickly [and cheesy] for me to really get on board with. Not sure if I'll continue with this series. Will be continuing the Bad Boys of Crystal Lake series which I've already read book 1 of and enjoyed also, might be more to my liking.

  • Jack Simon is a politician (but we don't get much of that) so he is careful of his public image. 5 years ago, Donovan James left him a note/breaking up with him and pursued her country music career. Now she is a big time star and runs into Jack. They are not on good terms but one hot night in Belize brings them back together again. But then she leaves again with only a noteDonovan is not a nice person to Jack and vice versa, they both say awful things to each other the whole book. This book was a [...]

  • This book was good. I really enjoyed the characters and the storyline. The only problem I had with this book is there are some serious editing problems. There were quite a few chapters that would start with one letter on the page and the rest of the word on the next page. My biggest issue was that many times when Jack was talking about his brother Tucker, he referred to him as cousin. This author needs better proof readers and a new editor! These issues were not just isolated to this book.

  • I didn't like the way the author so casually claimed the MC was raped at the end and that the man would pay with no real resolution. Rape isn't something to just toss out there for a climax to a novel.

  • Review originally posted at Ramblings From This ChickJack is the second book in Juliana Stone's the Family Simon series. Each book in this series can easily be read as a standalone, and I hadn't read the first book when I read Jack. I had no problems getting into Jack or understanding anything. I really liked the Simons in this book though, and I will definitely be going back and reading the first book as I await the next in the series. Jack was different that what I had recently read, and I rea [...]

  • 4 starsAbout the book: Release Date August 25, 2014One night with the wrong woman can change your life…. Jack Simon’s road to the White House has been a smooth one until a night with the notorious Donovan James becomes a roadblock he can’t escape.

  • I have always been a fan of Juliana Stones books. SO I was not surprised that yet again, she came out with a bang! Jack was superb, entertaining, funny, and emotional! I was skeptical about this book in the beginning, but I am quite glad I gave it a chance. Jack is such an interesting character! He has charisma, hard working, alpha brooding male with a spicy attitude. SO when he runs into his ex Donovan, I couldn't help but be giddy with glee at the aspect of where I knew this book would begin. [...]

  • This was better than the first book.Jack Simon is an aspiring politician. Five years ago he was madly in love with Donovan, a feisty singer from Arkansas, it went south after a massive row but deep down he has never forgotten her, or found anyone like her.Six months ago Jack rescued Donovan in a club in Miami when she was rip-roaring drunk and about to do something stupid - the trouble is the press got the wrong impression and thought they spent the night together.Donovan has never stopped lovin [...]

  • 3.5 starsI really enjoy Juliana Stone'd writing style, though this time I found myself frustrated more often than I would have liked. The continuous lack of communication that seemed too convenient and just for the plot's sake. Off the top of my head I recall 3 times that Donovan almost told Jack what happened but didn't. And then there was twist which I saw coming less than a third of the way in because it's the easiest way to make Donavon sympathetic. Plus the fact that that reveal and the fal [...]

  • DNF at about 25%. I read the first int he series a while back, and recall thinking it was okay, but this one just did not have any interest in the characters or their story. Had no feeling for their connection, maybe partly due to the fact this is a second chance story (which I like when they're told well and interestingly with feeling) and I never got to the pint where I cared why they broke up or if they got back together. Every time she laid eyes o him it was all he's so hot and turns me on s [...]

  • This book was emotionally challenging! Jack and Donovan had a tumultuous relationship which she ended for seemingly no reason at all. When they're thrown together again, they can't deny the attraction is still there. However, Donovan has a secret that if discovered can ruin Jack's political career and truly destroy whatever is between them once and for all. She's been warned to stay away from him if she doesn't want her secret released to the press. Does she walk away or fight for a future with [...]

  • Jack can be ermwell mean, "save it, Donnie. We both know the kitchen isn't your favorite place. If I remember correctly, you cook me one meal. One meal the entire time we were together. Jesus, we both would have starved if it wasn't for me." Donovan that girl has a mouth on her and knows how to use it, "I didn't matter enough for you to leave a effing note? A little scribble to say, hey Donnie, I'm off to some exotic island, because I can't stand being near you? Oh and while I'm having a nice co [...]

  • Jack Simon is running for the Senate and a scandal is the last thing he needs. When he runs into his ex-girlfriend Donovan James, they hit the tabloids and he is the number one story and not because of the politics. Donovan James is an international singing sensation and has made a living singing about heartache and pain, something she knows all too much about. Lately she has been wanting to settle down and who she wants to settle down with wants nothing to do with her. She thought they had it m [...]

  • I really, really disliked Jack! He was a horrible character in my opinion and didn't deserve Donovan's love. I understand she hurt him five years early, but that did not give him the right to abuse/treat her the way he did. Donovan was a real sweetheart who deserved better than what she got. I was so tempted not to finish this book, but glad I did. There were about ten pages in total that I felt Jack was nice to Donovan and that was at the end of the book! Sad, especially since I absolutely love [...]
