  • Rating: 3.25 starsMore Things in Heaven and Earth is not what I expected after reading the blurb. At the same time, it’s more, and less. To better explain, I think these are two books trying to become one—a literary fiction story that collided with a romance novel. I would have preferred to get a HFN or a tutor & apprentice kind of ending in this story. And then, round up the romance and the rest of their future on a separate book. Some of the scenes were too descriptive and the things Da [...]

  • A Joyfully Jay review. 1.5 starsThis is a debut book and I like to take chances on new authors. It’s a definite roll of the dice and sometimes the roll lands in my favor and other times the house wins. I have found some great new authors this way, but I am unable to put author Paul Comeau into this category. I’m also finding it more difficult to deconstruct this book for a review because…it was a mess and a true struggle to get through. The premise of this book is what captured my attention [...]

  • 2.5 StarsMore Things in Heaven and Earth by Paul Comeau is a debut book from this author. When reading a new author I tend to be more open-minded when reviewing. Breaking into the publishing world is hard. You have your own style and you're trying to get people to love it. Sometimes it clicks and sometimes it doesn't.I will say there were some issues with this book. Some that I'm shocked the author's editor (s) didn't catch. Not grammar! One huge issue this book had was head hopping. Almost to a [...]

  • I try to give every book I read 20% before DNFing, in case it's my mood and I eventually get caught up in the storyline. But, with a book that is long, reads very long, that would be many hours. Usually I rate all DNFs as 3 stars, rating lower if I find major issues. But I'm going to leave this title unrated out of respect. I've found some major timeline and editing errors that are beyond distracting, which wouldn't be a problem if not for the writing style. With a very long book, with this type [...]

  • I waffled when I saw this offered up for review. I was a little leery because it’s a long(er) book by a new author and I worry about that. I love reading new authors, but if it’s not a great book then the shorter the better, right? I also try to pick books I can give good reviews to because I’m not here to do anything but read good books and recommend them!Unfortunately, this is one of those cases when a gamble on a new author didn’t work out.The first thing that bothered me was the main [...]

  • I'm 37% done with More Things in Heaven and: I am not sure why I can't get into yet another bookis just isn't for me. DNF @37%

  • I found this book to be quite unique. First off, Damien has been a vampire for about two decades. It was a breath of fresh air to meet such a young vampire, although he's really at the beginning a huge jerk. Until he meets Danny. Danny's family found out he's gay and the only recourse Danny saw was to commit suicide. As he's laying in the hospital wishing he had succeeded, in saunters Damien. To feed. Until he meets Danny. (See the pattern) ;)You can see my full review on my YouTube channel: you [...]

  • A Boy and His Vampire From tragedy to a glorious happily ever after. This is a different kind of vampire story. It starts with tragedy on both of their parts. Damien gets bitten and transformed into a vampire and he has no clue what happened to him and he has to suffer and figure it out all on his own. Danny, who has an abusive father, goes through all kinds of awful things and he ends up in the hospital where he meets Damien. Damien takes an interest in Danny and decides to protect and watches [...]

  • This is a book I would describe as two men falling in love with each other even though they was extreme differences between them. When they first met Danny was going to be dinner for Damien but Damien could not do it when he looked in his eyes. There was something there in those deep blue eyes that pulled Damien in and made him want to protect Danny.Damien knew without asking that something had happened to Danny and he knew it was bad. From the moment he decided that he was going to protect Danny [...]

  • When Danny slit his wrists and ends up in the hospital no one can imagine the domino effect that would occur. Damien has spent a long time embracing the darkness that flows through him. As a vampire, he easily can take what he wants anytime he wants to. But he can't bring himself to hurt Danny as he lay in his hospital bed. Instead, he vows that he will help the boy. With a cruel priest and an evil father conspiring to kidnap Danny and send him to conversion camp, Damien is forced to do what he [...]

  • Damien has been a Vampire for 20 years. He was in his early twenties when he was turned. He has been alone all that time and had to learn how to feed, what he could do and fend for himself. He never met the vampire that turned him or any other vampires. He was alone. He fed on the rich and got his money that way. He also fed on poor or other victims. He liked to change up his feeding habits as not to set a pattern to lead anyone to try and figure out who or what he is. One night in the hospital [...]
