FROM AUTHOR S WEBSITE I m a native of central Maine, and grew up on a small farm with a wonderful mom and dad, three sisters and a brother Most of my books take place in small towns, many of them in Maine My husband, Jim, and I moved to his birth state, Oregon, for a while after we were married, but decided to move back to Maine and be near my family It allowed our six children to grow up feeling close to their cousins and grandparents, and some of Jim s family have even moved to Maine Our children are all home schooled When Jim retired from his vocation as an editor at a daily newspaper, we moved from Maine to Kentucky.I ve always loved reading, history, and horses These things come together in several of my historical books Another longtime hobby of mine is genealogy, which has led me down many fascinating paths I m proud to be a DAR member Some of Jim s and my quirkier ancestors have inspired fictional characters For many years I worked for the Central Maine Morning Sentinel as a freelancer This experience was a great help in developing fictional characters and writing realistic scenes I also published nonfiction articles in several magazines and had several short stories appear in Woman s World, Grit, and Alfred Hitchcock s Mystery Magazine.

  • I enjoyed this unusual little tale. The main character was quite brave, and I loved how her relationship with her mother and then her husband played out. It's always refreshing to find eminently sensible, good-hearted heroines in the world of fiction.

  • A story of Jack blamed for a murder he did not commit. A town that held things against Jack just because of who his Dad was. A hasty marriage that wasn't expected to last. A boy who runs away from home.Forgiveness, Justice, and God's love unfolding in so many ways. God's plan does ever work the way we would think it.The prodigal son leaves home to join militia but he was too young. Yet he does not return home for a whole summer. God's redeeming mercies and his return to his father. Yet God used [...]

  • Fascinating historical!I am so enjoying susan page Davis's books, especially this setting. American history, starting with colonial times, and so very well written, are rare these days. They make an extremely satisfying read and give insight to the timelessness of the heart's yearnings and God's perfect faithfulness toward us. Thank you, Ms. Davis.

  • Jack and Lucy, He has been accused of murder, if someone doesn't move into his property it will be sold at auction. So Lucy moves into it and cares for it and she thinks he's been hanged when after dark someone brings him back to his ranch in a wagon, she is really upset thinking he is dead. He was beaten up but needs tending so she takes care of him.

  • Ah, historical romance, mystery and suspense, faith in God to carry you through the tough times and learning to trust him because His ways are GOOD and Perfect. Much like Eliza and Cora by Mildred Colvin in that they are not the average cookie cutter dressed-up 'Christian' romance. No, it is a love story, but it is also a story of faith in God. I hope to write books like this someday.p.s. have the Kleenex ready! ;)

  • This one was good a little less predictable than the other ones I've read; it was pretty sweet. A quick, fast, easy read. Didn't terribly intrigue me, but it was Ok.
