  • I would give this an almost three. This book is centered around a house built in around 1940 by Errol Flynn. Part of the book writes about a biography of Errol Flynn. How he got to the states bought property after becoming a movie star and built the house on Mulholland drive. Many things went on in this famous house lots of parties for one thing. Errol built the house with secret passageways though out the house including a two way mirror where other can see into a bedroom to watch unsuspecting [...]

  • I enjoyed learning the trivia of the families that lived in the house. I did not enjoy so much the personal story of the author.

  • It had many good pictures of Errol Flynn as Errol Flynn. I could see the deterioration of that once very, very handsome face. Such a pity, as if he threw away all the fairies gave him. He was a very depressed man, it seems. The pictures of the house were okay if you like looking at a house that was torn apart. In a way, those pictures resembled those of the actor. I did not know that Stuart Hamblen and Rick Nelson and his sons also lived in that house. Mr. Hamblen's gospel music was always playe [...]

  • Fascinating approach to a BiographyWhat a different biography, mostly focused on Errol Flynn but actually surrounding the house that he built, Mulholland Farm high on top of the Hollywood Hills looking down at the San Fernando Valley. Well researched and filled with photos the house truly becomes a character in and of itself, you watch it along with Flynn at its peak, then the downfall as he looses it, and its purchase by Stuart Hamblen where it is somewhat tamed. The unusual occurrence experien [...]

  • Love the photosI really enjoy looking at houses, especially those with a history like this one. I didn't know much about Flynn, or that he was so good looking! Strange tastes--peeping Tom. Very good book.

  • Now and then I read odd books that get returned at my library. The story of this house is by turns sad, weird, interesting and fascinating. One can only wish Mr. Flynn had been a bit less ruled by his demons. The story of this house's decay was sad and foolish--this house should and could have been preserved--imagine getting to take a tour of it and look through the secret peepholes and learn fun stuff about Hollyweird's lurid history!

  • I have no idea why I picked up this book, but I'm glad I did. The book is the story of Mulholland Farm the house built by Errol Flynn and subsequently the home of 2 other families as well. Errol Flynn is the central driving force around the book. I am tempted to read more about him after reading this book about his house. It's a shame the house was demolished in the 80's. Some say he remained at Mulholland Farm for decades after his early death.

  • This is a fascinating look at a piece of Hollywood history that is, sadly, lost forever. The house seems to have a personality of its own and I wish that there were more pictures in existence - or better yet, that the house still existed! - as I want to explore more. Even if you're not a Flynn fan, which I'm not, the book is captivating and haunting. I highly recommend it!

  • If walls could talkWonderful look back to our former selves and the people who ran Hollywood's biggest entertainment center of the world. If that home could talk, I wonder what it would say?

  • I wish that GoodReads allowed 1/2 stars because I would give this 3.5 stars. The information was good, I just feel it was a little disjointed and could benefit from some editing to flesh it out (if possible). For the photos, floor plans, I give it a 5.

  • The book is mainly about the house , mostly about Errol Flynn who designed it and lived there and the other two families that lived there. The other famous tenants Ricky Nelson and his family.

  • Interesting storyloved Errol Flynn movies when a kid. This was an interesting story about his life and house he built. Has lots of photographs. Really enjoyed the book

  • Detailed look at the Errol Flynn house with pictures from different owners and visitors. Fascinating for lovers of classic Hollywood houses.
